How to salvage your missions

How and why to salvage the wrecks from your missions. Contains suggested ships and setups.




HOW...

Destroyers are the best for salvaging. With 8 high slots you can easily fit 6x Salvagers and 2x Small Tractor Beams.

For medium slots you should fit an Afterburner and/or Cap Rechargers.

In lows fit Cargohold Expanders.

Thats your general setup for any of the Destroyers. If you cant use destroyers yet just go out and get the skill and train it to level one, thats all you need.

IF you don't have an alt to do the salvaging it can be a little tedious, even creating a new character every two weeks could be worthwhile.

When salvaging lock 4 targets, Tractor Beam them into range and then set 3x salvagers per wreck. Then start to tractor in the next two wrecks while the first two finish up. Normally you wont have enough time to lock the next two before the first two are done, so it goes pretty quickly.

The only thing that can make this take to long is when the wrecks are spread out all over the place, but you can learn techniques that will allow you to keep them all bundled close together when doing the mission.

WHY...

From about 5 level 4 mission you can have gathered well over 50 million in possible Rigs. You can always sell the materials as almost all of them are worth more then the rarest mineral. But far more profit can be made from producing them. The BPOs for rigs are VERY cheap, and you can gather up the materials to produce practically any rig in a week.

You will need the related Rigging skill, which requires you to have Jury Rigging to level 3, and the specific rigging skill to level 1. All these skills are very cheap and quick to train.

Once you have the skills, the salvage and the BPO. Take them to a nearby station with factory slots. Right click the BPO and select Manufacture. Then select the Factory > station > then an available slot. Select how many runs you want (normally 1) and click OK. The next screen will display if you have enough of all the materials and the skills to make it. IF you do just click ACCEPT QOUTE. If will only take about 5-10 minutes to make one Rig.
